Some genuine wilderness heroes were in Washington, DC this week for a special screening of the documentary feature Forever Wild: Celebrating America's Wilderness. Guests from Capitol Hill, the Administration, and the conservation community joined director Chelsea Congdon and several of the activist stars of the film, including Connie Harvey, Lynn Ryan, Dan Yetter, Evelyn McKinnon and Fred Lavigne.
Forever Wild tells the tales of citizens who have worked to protect some of their favorite nearby wild places. The film, featuring Robert Redford's narration, together with original music and the moving prose of Terry Tempest Williams, read by the author, guides the viewer through an examination of America's commitment to wilderness preservation, and the values we hold dear in protecting these wild lands. Forever Wild captures the glory of undeveloped, wild places through stunning images and the passionate tales of America's modern wilderness heroes.
Other attendees included Congressman Martin Heinrich (D-NM), and Joel Holtrop, Deputy Chief, National Forest System with the U.S. Forest Service.
Forever Wild can be seen on PBS stations around the country. If you'd like to own a copy of Forever Wild, to show at your next wilderness house party or at a public forum in your community, the Campaign is making copies available at cost.
