Church expresses refreshing voice in debate
I would like to thank Mrs. Church for expressing her views ("Wilderness bill is an exceptional compromise," Aug. 29) on the pending CIEDRA legislation. It's refreshing to hear a reasoned, common-sense voice on this issue, when so much of the "discussion" has been heated and even ugly. I commend Congressman Simpson for his perseverance - surely it would have been easier to throw in the towel. But he recognizes the strong support from affected communities and rationale stakeholder groups. Groups that oppose his legislation are extremists on the left and the right of the political center. That shows me that he must be doing something right.
