Dear supporter,

In this first session of the 110th Congress, the final push to enact legislation comes this month. With your help again, we hope to see at least a couple wilderness bills get to the President's desk.

The House of Representatives passed two wilderness bills, for the Wild Sky in Washington, and for the Blue Ridge of Virginia. These bills could be taken up by the Senate yet this year. Contact your senators to ask about the status of H.R. 886 and H.R. 1011 and indicate your support for their enactment.

On November 13, a panel of the House Natural Resources Committee heard testimony on five wilderness bills: H.R. 2334, Rocky Mountain National Park Wilderness and Indian Peaks Wilderness Expansion Act; H.R. 2632, Sabinoso Wilderness Act; H.R. 3287, Tumacacori Highlands Wilderness Act; H.R. 3513, Copper Salmon Wilderness Act; and H.R. 3682, California Desert and Mountain Heritage Act. Ring up your member of Congress to urge action on these bills by the full House before the holiday recess.

It doesn't take much individually - a letter, a phone call - but collectively when we act, it adds up. The sum total can be a sweet gift for future generations.

Sincerely,
Mike Matz
Executive Director
