Allegheny National Forest
- Summary:
- A campaign to protect some 69,000 acres as wilderness and national recreation areas in the Allegheny National Forest. Located in the rugged plateau country of northwestern Pennsylvania, the forest is characterized by rolling an sometimes steep topography with a 1,300 foot range of elevation. Included in the proposed wilderness is the largest tract of old-growth forest between the Great Smoky Mountains and the Adirondacks. Tree species common to the area include black cherry, yellow poplar, white ash, red maple, and sugar maple.
